How long should sudoku take

The identification of symmetrical patterns draws on the addictive aspect of the brain. Sudoku offers a challenge to the brain that encourages logical thought processes utilising the short-term memory. It is thought that this type of puzzle helps prevent the advance of Alzheimer's and offers some comfort for short-term illness through its therapeutic thought patterns.

A three-by-three Sudoku puzzle will take between 10 to 30 minutes to complete depending on your skill and expertise and the difficulty of the puzzle. Four-by-four Sudoku puzzles will take much longer to complete. As these puzzles are much larger than three-by-three puzzles, they usually take upwards of two hours. For a correctly formed Sudoku puzzle, there should be only one solution. Some variants on Sudoku do have more than one solution; these should not be confused with a true Sudoku puzzle.

Earlier in the year, Sky One gained its place in the record books for the largest Sudoku in the world. Do this with all the numbers, and you can probably fill in a good number of spaces. Do this for all the numbers.

When you get stuck, use trial and error. Start easy. Solving Sudoku puzzles is a skill, and like any skill, practice is the key to success. Be patient. Sudoku can take a long time to solve. Don't worry. I visited that site a few days ago to try my hand at Sudoku for the first time. Loaded up a random Medium puzzle, because I hate starting anything out at Easy, and I like the challenge.

Well bloody thing took me an HOUR to complete! And the second one took the same amount of time! Since then, I've done quite a few Medium puzzles and worked my time down to a personal best of about 12 minutes. I'm happy.
