Where to find spiders silk in wow

It is used as a component in recipes from several professions. Its rarity combined with the value of the resulting crafted items make it a valuable drop easily sold on the auction house. This item drops from spiders with levels , and very rarely from other spiders.

This is reflected in the AH price which can be times the price of the next comparable item, [ Thick Spider's Silk ]. In terms of raw drop rate, the best option is Zarakh on Bloodmyst Isle , but Zarakh has a 5 min. For level players, a good place to farm is Thelgen Rock , going for the Cave Stalkers , in south-central Wetlands. Other possibilities include:. He said he sells per week and buys low and sells high. I told him he was cheating. I refuse to pay that much, hence - the 30 minutes in Duskwood.

Anyway - have fun. Edit - I missed page 2 of the comments until after I posted. It's a rather large area and the respwan rate of the spiders is high therefore you dont have to wait ages before killing them again. I farmed 4 in 35 minutes. Three of them with 15 minutes. Got G for them at AH as tailorers can make lvl 19 cloth boots from them.

Good luck. Grind-a-thon ! I'm going back there to try. Will report back. Got one from Leech Stalkers after only killing less than So Wetlands is still good. They drop very steady. Also check inside the cave I got a few in there too from the cave stalkers and the widow. Tired of grinding right now. Will repost when I figure out if data is accurate. It appears about 14 to 16 total spawn, with 1 or 2 respawning by the time you get them all killed. And all respawn by the time you finish a full circuit in the cave.

Of the 2 circuits, killing 32, 1 Spider's Silk Spider's Silk dropped. Killed almost Zero Spiders Silk. Killed 30ish, got 1 Spiders Silk. Small samples I know, but its a start. Comment by MaBaer Needing just 2 spider's silk to make something for my rogue, I looked at the comments pretty closely and went off to find some. As I was doing this, I was hoping the news was not as grim as it appears--no such luck : I started with Ashenvale just to the Southwest of Splintertree Post, by a lake.

There are Wildthorn Lurkers there that fade in n out and are gray in color. I killed a few and I say that truly because there are not many and they do not reappear to quickly.

I got lucky and managed to get a reg spider's silk. Was hoping this meant good things, but no. I got no other ones in that trip. I went to an area in Stonetalon Mtns. I got you assorted trash, a green item, and a stack of thick spider's silk. I spent about 20 min in Duskwood and NO reg spider's silk.

I did go back to Ashenvale this morning and got very lucky and got another reg spider's silk in the same area previously mentioned and from from same type--Wildthorn Lurker. Not sure wether to try the area around Goldshire or not. MaBaer Edit: I decided to try the black widows in Duskwood between the circle in the middle and Raven Hill cemetary and from the road on the South clear up to the North border.

It was a decent trip. I needed to get just 1 but wanted to get myself a full stack just in case :. Comment by Wimbleton I admit my Warrior alt was in Arathi for Wild Steelbloom, not specifically for spider's silk but I killed every spider I could find because another alt is a tailor.

I stopped counting at around but must have come close to spiders. Probably just the odds but yikes! Why have these patterns if you can't get the mats to make them? Comment by Droprates on leech widow may have changed I got four in about ten minutes. Comment by jergood Duskwood is the place to farm normal spider's silk. I was able to pick up 4 silks in less than 5 mins farming black widows at 33, Comment by Using Moobi's plan i got a stack in about minutes.

Best to use when you need spider silk for tailoring :. Comment by thoreau I also first went out to Hillsbrad and then on to Arathi Highlands for the regular "Spider's Silk". The only thing that I got was "Thick Spider's Silk". I took the advice on some of the newer posts and tried my luck in Duskwood, around the Raven Hill cemetary. I had 4 regular Spider's Silk drop for me in 25 min. I am now going to farm a bit more to either make some extra money on the AH or make another pair of the Spider Silk Boots for one of my caster alts.

Comment by Banerick went to Duskwood, around the Raven Hill cemetary, after about 45 min, got; 27 gooey spider legs, 26 small spider legs, 37 crunchy spider legs, and NINE silks Forget gold I'm selling these for platinum! Comment by Got 9 silks in one hour doing the rounds in Hillsbrad. Comment by thelandira Ran a little experiment today. My results are as follows: Duskwood - Black Widows - 18 grays - 4 greens - 72 crunchy legs - 74 gooey legs - 75 small legs - ichor - 8 silk Hillsbrad - Domesticated Mine Creeper - 12 grays - 9 greens - 35 poisoned fang - 75 crunchy legs - 75 gooey legs - 79 small legs - ichor - 1 tailoring pattern - 13 silk To me Hillsbrad is definately a better spot.

Some would respawn immediately on top of the one just killed. All in all, 21 silks in two hours wasn't bad. Now the question is how many do I use for tailoring and how many do I list on the AH? With transmogging on the horizon I could make a pretty penny either way I suppose. Comment by Darneas Regardless of where you go these things have a horrible drop rate.

I got two after about two hours of killing the forest creepers and the black widows. I can only imagine how long it takes for the other ones. Judging by other comments my results seem to be slightly better than average as I doubt I killed more than in that time. Comment by LovelyHealer Farmed all the spiders in Duskwood. Circled Twilight Grove 2 full times, killing all spiders. Approx 45 mins at level 85 Received: 7 Spider's Silk 2 Green Patterns 5 Greens I did not keep track of all the rest of the uncommons or trash items.

Comment by funestis So just for experiment I farmed the spider silk inside Keepers of Time dungeon Old Hillsbrand and to my amazement those actually drop from Forest Creepers there. The drop rate is more or less the same as everywhere, I got 4 spider silks from 50 kills which is pretty much every spider in the instance one lvl 20 green some gray armors and some cooking spider parts and gray spider parts.

All in all it is not a great way to get the spider silk and anyways if u have the level to enter that instance u probably don't need the spider silk except for auction house but if u need to grind Keepers of Time reputation or for whatever other reason and you have time it is nice way to squeeze few extra golds from that instance on my server spider silk sells for 15G each at this time Added: It looks like those spiders re spawn inside instance after 10 minutes or do.

Comment by My hunter found nearby Addles Stead a much better spot for wool. Spirits are plentiful and drop wool more reliably, also easier for ranged attacks. Comment by Best place for me to farm this silk has been from the Cave Stalker and Leech Stalker in the Wetlands. These spiders are plentiful with a decent respawn timer and are very close together also.

With an 85 hunter doing 1-shot kills, I did several circuits and killed around creepers to get 5 silks. Almost gave up after kills without a drop but fortunately decided to try a few more. Im here on a lv 85 pali which makes no difference on the drop. Why wouild Blizz make a low level mat so freaking difficult to farm. Ive pent bout 5 hours today looking fo Spiders silk and i have a total of 6.

Any suggestions to get Spiders Silk would be greatly appreciated. Comment by Grammie Since noone has posted on this for a while and since it seems to be so hard to find I decided to look for it and post my results - - on my server it goes for 50 gold a piece - - which at first I thought it was crazy until I found out how hard it is to come by I shall head out to wetlands and check there but I think for now duskwood is where you want to be if you are looking for spider silk and everyone seems to be needing at least four.

Comment by Just like to confirm Grammie's post. Comment by peptomilkshake Just killed Black Widows in Duskwood. Three Spider's Silks dropped, and a few greens. I've been farming it every few days for a while now, though, and from what I've noticed, it drops more often from the spiders on the Darkened Bank than the ones simply east of Raven Hill. I read a post earlier stating that said poster had no luck with them.

I just wanted to say that he really was having no luck with the spiders, not that the spiders themselves do not drop Silk. Peace and happy grinding! Respawn rate seems better in the cave than Duskwood. Used to regularly spend 1hr getting in Duskwood, and now I regularly get in 20 min in Wetlands. It could just be RNG, but I think it is the faster respawn rate and not having to mount to fly to find more widows.

Ghost wolf FTW in the cave. Comment by infraredpen I farmed 6 Spider's Silk in duskwood for my Spidersilk Drape, and my drop rate seemed a lot better than most, getting 6 in about 30 minutes. I just ran up and down between the eastern side of raven hill cemetery and the mountains. Hope this helps. So far, I've gotten 6 of these with just 35 kills in less than 15 minutes. The drop rate seems much higher than what Wowhead states from these spiders. Comment by jawabait I'm wondering if they nerfed the drop rate off the Black Widow Hatchlings because I've been farming about an hour and I have a grand total of two Spider's Silk, one of which came off a rare in a cave.

It would make sense if they did since this is also a quest mob and there aren't a ton of them to begin with. Cave Stalker inside cave 48, 60 Sorry for the small data pool but 2 was all I needed. She is hanging onto them for when she needs them for tailoring. I am not sure if the drop rate is always that good there but it worked at least once. Blizzard has not fixed this issue. Horrible drop rate! Comment by i have farmed about four of these in about 30 mins in duskwood around raven hill about spiders killed.

Comment by I went looking for this stuff today. I think it's harder to find than any epic I went to three different places: Hillsbrad Foothills, Duskwood, and Wetlands.

Here is my haul in each place. I am an 85 Destructo Lock with a GearScore. In each place, I farmed for a full 90 minutes or spiders, whichever came first.

Hillsbrad Foothills: 0 Spider's Silk. A ton of grey trash. I got absolutely nothing. I went to each place listed here and also online on other sites. Nothing dropped at all, not even the Thick Spider's Silk.

I was there around 4pm game time. Duskwood, just near Raven Cemetery 2 Spider's Silk. A ton of trash. I got two silks within the first 5 minutes, but nothing afterwards. It was horrible. I even stayed to kill an extra 50 just to make sure I didn't miss anything, but in kills, I only got 2 Silks. A metric ton of trash.

This was the best place I've seen. Now, to get 31 Silks, I had to farm for about 3 hours to get them. They respawn very quickly; after you clear the outside of the cave, you go in the cave, clear them, and outside has already respawned.

They also come in sets; it wasn't uncommon to kill 75 spiders, then in the next 6, I get 5 drops. Each circuit has about 40 spiders total, so I noticed it seemed to be every other circuit that I was getting drops. They also seem to drop more outside of the cave than inside the cave. I am definately not saying to never go in the cave; they dropped inside the cave as well, but for the inside, I would get outside.

There are also no other mobs around outside of the occasional Slavering Ooze and the spiders are far enough apart that I don't think an at lvl could aggro another spider.

The downside was picking up all the trash. None of the first three ever netted me more than 7s, even in a stack, so I would just destroy stacks of them. Interestingly, the Poisoned Spider Fang netted 37s a stack. With almost every other spider dropping those fangs, I easily got 9 or 10 stacks to net several gold. It's a low number of gold, but if you are hard up and need a few gold real quick, this isn't a bad spot to look for them. All in all, I wouldn't say this is a spot to look for a quick stack of silks, but I'd definately spend an hour or two on a slow night to farm them and have them as needed.

Happy Farming! I cleared the cave twice and the area in front of the cave twice with an 85 so it didn't take very long. Comment by Smoothini Holy crap Duskwood is by far the best place to farm this. Comment by Guess what? I found an area that drops spider's silk almost every time! So, not exactly sure how good silk farming will end up in this section.

Worth a shot though. I tried recently myself and killed about 20 and no drops at all. About 8 to 9 times out of 10 spider's silk dropped! So for this I was able to up my cooking past the spiced bread recipe. A bit ago I thought of Ghostlands since doing lots of Blood Elves and knew tons of spiders were there, but none dropped anything except the Crunchy Spider's Legs.

So there ya go, happy leveling! Comment by This is going for 26g on my server. Comment by jerzeygamer Patch: 5. Quite a bit of them and there's a nice path that you can loop starting at Southpoint Gate, making your way north towards the Uplands and then coming back down on walking on the other side of the valley.

Here's how many kills and the amount of time it took me to farm 10 silk Start time: pm 1 9 kills 2 61 kills 3 29 kills Took a little break.. Started again at pm.. Good feeling when that happens haha. Comment by Alright, so as much as I hate to burst anyone's bubble about where the best drops can be found at least since patch 5. I'm farming Spider's Silk to both level my tailoring and to fatten my purse from my crafted items - RP servers, man So I combed Duskwood with a fine tooth comb for over an hour straight and picked up about five silk from just the Black Widows found near the Raven Hill cemetery - not a single one dropped off the hatchlings to the east or the Venom Webs found all around the north half of the zone - and that was after circling back a few times.

Same can be said for the other zones listed and silk has dropped sporadically between the different types of spiders some that had no silk one day had almost six or seven the next. Over the past week I've seen there's really no rhyme or reason to the drops. You just have to cross your fingers and hope that you get lucky. If you're like me with a night job and little do during the day, it helps that you won't be competing with questing players or other farmers.

Best of luck! Happy Hunting : Duskwood the Black Widow and Venom Web Spider seem to have more of them with a faster rez rate in a smaller area makes it quicker farming. Comment by KMatchstick Did about 60 black widows in duskwood this morning, dropped 5 spider's silk.

Another dropped off the minor venom web spider crab cakes quest. Went back later and did about another 40, no drops of spider silk. Odd RNG Comment by Omac I just killed Black Widows. Not one spider's silk dropped. Two spider's silk dropped. There are also some hatchlings just southwest of that area, across the road in Roland's Horror. Both of these areas are quite small, however, and there aren't a lot of hatchlings.

Nor do they respawn very quickly, unfortunately. I spent 45 mins farming in hillsbrad and got 1. Comment by Hasita I farmed Zarakh for 3 days, this npc drops nothing at all, ever! After 40 mins. Best drop rates are there. In these 2 areas,I had spider's silk dropped after I had killed 4 to 8 spiders. The Elder Moss Creepers there dropped one every kills for me, lvl 28 mage.

Quite easy, good for grinding too. Sell for a buttload also so great for tailoring around or lots of cash. Comment by Thottbot Just farmed the 8 i needed for an alt between dabyries farmstean and northfold manor took me 40 mins in that time i got 8 spider's silk and 6 Thick Spider's silk plus was grinding on raptors for medium leather.

Comment by Thottbot I have a theory as to why Spider's Silk in particular is so expensive on the AH, and the above comment about economics touches on this. Spider's Silk is an ingredient for Robes of Arcana, something that just about every Warlock will eventually need when they hit Level 30 or so. The pattern for it is relatively difficult to find especially for Horde , and even then many Lock's are not tailors, so a fair number of Locks need to buy the Robes from the AH or another player.

I've seen the Robes on the AH's of various servers with a buyout price of anywhere from 4g to 15g, which can be pretty steep for a Level 30; the reason for the huge price tag is twofold - 1: Locks NEED to get the Robe; that makes it a seller's market so mark-ups are huge.

Anyway, all of that combined with the relative rarity of Spider's Silk dropping means that Spider's Silk will sell for lots of cash - most players know that whoever wants it is going to use it to make an item that they will then sell for huge profits, and so they want to get their share of that.

Of course, many "Producers" of said items pass on the production costs, which drives up the sale price of the items, which in turn drives up the component price, and so on. Sort of like selling twink items - you don't sell Level 29 items expecting an actual 29th Level main will buy it - you're selling it to some 70th Level main so they can give it to their 29th Level Twink Alt.

Anyway, that's just how it is. My advice? Better off farming it yourself - even if the area's too low for you to get XP, you get vendor items and free ingredients, which means greater profits and gets you that much closer to that Epic Mount you've always wanted This is actually a good place to get them.

The spiders are all along the south eastern part of the area, they're lvl, and there is no other mob around except the occasional Shadow Panther lvl They respawn fast, so you can just walk back and forth killing them, and the drop rate is not too bad. There's rarely anyone else in the area, so it may even be pretty decent for PvP servers.

Comment by Allakhazam Best place to farm for this is in duskwood between Raven hill and the mountain towards Darkshire, most drop off of Black Widow Hatchling's. Just do circles and the spiders will have respawned by time you do a full circle around the ridge inbetween the mountain and raven hill.

Comment by Allakhazam yup usually closer 1. Comment by Allakhazam Great thing to farm on Feathermoon server. Comment by Allakhazam Does anyone know where the merchant that sells these is located.

Thanks in advance. Comment by Allakhazam um i not that great with percentages so cauld anyone plz tell me a good place to farm iam a lvl 35 thnx in advance.

Comment by Allakhazam lol I feel lucky, 2 off about 5 spiders in Ashenvale, the level Comment by Allakhazam I got one of these off a spider in Hillsbrad today. I think pretty much all spiders have a chance to drop it And this could vary depending on the level of the spider.. THis is NOT worth 75s Its droprate is actually quite high compared to rare gems like Moss agates.

Comment by Allakhazam I farmed for this item from the deepmoss spiders in Stonetalon mountains the valley with the elite spider in it, besselith i think her name is. The drop rate is slightly lower than the ones found in Arathi, but the mobs are more concentrated and they respawn FAST.

Comment by Allakhazam Yeah, on Stormrage they go for 60s - 1.
