What was the best backyard baseball

Those who grew up playing these games still rave about them to this very day, as they are timeless. Sure, they may not look as beautiful as modern baseball video games , but they are immensely fun and possess a lot of unique qualities that help enhance their playability. The characters in these games are also extremely memorable, as they did a fantastic job creating them. Not only do they all have certain quirks and skills, but also their very own music.

These classic games definitely have characters who are among the elite, however. When picking a team, people tend to draft a specific group of players, as their talents help provide them with a better chance of winning. There definitely are players on these games that are decent, but they just cannot measure up to the best out the bunch.

Kenny Kawaguchi is an elite pitcher in the first installment of the series. This is what allows him to be a valuable asset to any baseball roster , as he is virtually unhittable. He also is quite quick when running the base paths, so he definitely is a steal threat at any time. In later games, his skill drops off a bit, but his dominance in the original series warrants him a spot among the best ever.

He is just one of the coolest players to use too, so it certainly enhances his value. Amir Khan is a very talented player in these games. This is due to the fact that he offers a bit of everything on the baseball field.

He is a marvelous pitcher, but also offers stability when it comes to his hitting ability. He seems to only get better in later installments of the series, as well, so he certainly is a great pick every single time. He may not be the best of the bunch, but he definitely beats the average by a wide margin. A game that kept us from going outside to practice the actual game of baseball and become a better athlete. Alright, maybe that was just me.

Backyard baseball has always and will always hold a special place in my nerdy heart, because it was the first video game I ever truly loved. I mean, think about the time that you'd take to actually lookup statistics of your team and get super passionate about a bunch of fictional animated baseball players Dude can get thrown out from left field basically every time he steps up to the plate.

Good times man. Can't say enough about how much fun I had playing the original game and the version the absolute best. So, in honor of it being the 22nd anniversary of Backyard Baseball, I figured I'd put out the lineups that you absolutely should've been trotting out there every game for both the original and the version. If you wanted a chance to beat the Humongous Melonheads, these are the lineups you should've gone with Pablo Sanchez 3B. Pete Wheeler 2B. Achmed Khan LF. Amir Khan SS.

Sally Dobbs RF. Mikey Thomas 1B. Tony Delvecchio P. Stephanie Morgan CF. Luann Lui C. Guy is almost an automatic home run every time he steps up to the plate! I mean, he's called "The Secret Weapon" for crying out loud!

You've gotta get to the pitcher early. Lower their confidence. A Pablo Sanchez yack bomb in the bottom of the first is exactly what you need. Same stats, same visor, same nickname and, hell, identical player bios.

Are they useless? No, not by any means. They are tall. I feel bad not giving them separate rankings, but the Markieff and Marcus Morris of the Backyard Universe simply didn't earn it. Now Annie likes animals and ice cream. She's a real wholesome midwestern kid. Rainbow on the shirt, cap on the head. Her lack of desire to run despite her speed and the fact that she reminds me of Gretchen Hasselhoff puts her in in the spot she deserves.

Ronny Dobbs wasn't afraid to bust out the fit full of pastels, which says a ton about his confidence. Carrying his younger sister on his back to glory, Ronny had an absolute HOSE for an arm and his desire to be seen as a big kid had him rarely embarrassing himself.

Maybe the best young prospect in the entire league. At first glance, one has to assume that Lisa Crocket's "Mad Dog" nickname was meant to be ironic, but at further glance, this may not be the case.

Just look at that bio: "No one knows much about Lisa. Speed and an arm makes her a starter-caliber fielder. He doesn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but he also doesn't make mistakes and his baseball card collection is very cool. He also keeps a stack of pens on him, so in case someone higher on this list needs a pen to sign some postgame autographs, he is a good guy to have around. Billy Jean Blackwood is a giant. Exact measurements are not available but there is zero chance she stands short of 7-foot That and a cool nickname gets her this spot on the list because goodness gracious she is not good at baseball.

She swings a decent bat but the rest of her stats are embarrassingly low. Kimmy is so goddamn slow. Like line drive to the fence and still gets thrown out at first base slow. The only chance a tired Kimmy Eckman is even getting on base is if she puts one over the fence, which makes her a liability at the plate…when she isn't pimping homers. Thos boom or bust potential makes me think of Giancarlo Stanton, who is by no means a scrub, but no one is clamoring over the guy anymore except loser Yankee fans.

Maria Luna fills the stat sheet. Bats well, good speed, can catch a ball. Can't throw for shit, however. Effort is never an issue with Maria Luna. What more can you ask for than that? We're getting into the top level kids here. Amir Khan is destined to be cool. He's basically the cooler, better version of Ronny Dobbs I don't recommend ever really looking at these kids' faces because they almost all of them look the same and it becomes frightening.

When paired with his older brother Achmed he'll be up later Amir is a must-draft. This is easier to do than, say, the Webber sisters who don't bring enough to the table on their own. You don't see four baseball grades being thrown willy-nilly for a reason, they are legit.

Certainly, nothing jumps off of the page, but there is also nothing to scoff at. She is more than deserving at her spot of number seven.

She will be a middle of the line-up bat and play a corner outfield position. The question is her average speed but overall, she is a plug and play with nothing much to worry about as each skill is average to above average. Kiesha Phillips is the best option for your starting centerfielder and lead-off bat.

She has power, speed, and can flash some leather out in centerfield. On top of that, he can handle a bat pretty well. Defensively, he is above average as well. Kawaguchi is far and away from the best pitcher in the game, and will more than likely strike out a lot of opposing hitters with his impressive breaking stuff. Was there any question?
